How to Make Whole Acorn Squash in an Instant Pot

Acorn squash is a delicious and nutritious vegetable that can be enjoyed in various ways. If you're looking for a quick and easy method to cook a whole acorn squash, using an Instant Pot can be a game-changer. Follow the simple steps below to make a flavorful and tender whole acorn squash in your Instant Pot.
Ingredients:

  • 1 whole acorn squash

  • 1 cup of water

  • Olive oil or melted butter (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Additional seasonings of your choice (optional)

    Instructions:

Start by preparing the acorn squash. Wash the outer surface of the squash thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris. Carefully slice off the stem at the top of the squash.

Put Whole Squash in Instapot. Pour 1-2 cup of water into the stainless steel insert of your Instant Pot.

Select the "Manual" or "Pressure Cook" function on your Instant Pot and set it to cook at high pressure. Adjust the cooking time to 10-12 minutes.
Once the cooking time is complete, allow the Instant Pot to naturally release the pressure for about 10 minutes. Then, manually release any remaining pressure by turning the venting knob to the venting position, keeping your hands away from the steam.

Once the pressure is fully released, carefully open the lid of the Instant Pot. Use tongs or a heat-resistant mitt to remove the acorn squash halves from the pot.

Next, cut the squash in half lengthwise from top to bottom. Use a spoon to scoop out the seeds and discard them.

Season the acorn squash with salt, pepper, and any other seasonings you prefer. Some popular options include cinnamon, nutmeg, or a sprinkle of brown sugar. Serve the acorn squash halves as is, or you can use a fork to gently scrape the flesh, creating "spaghetti-like" strands.

If desired, drizzle some extra olive oil or melted butter over the cooked acorn squash and sprinkle with additional salt and pepper to taste.
Enjoy your deliciously cooked whole acorn squash!
Cooking a whole acorn squash in an Instant Pot saves time and ensures a moist and flavorful result. Incorporate this versatile vegetable into your meals as a side dish, stuff it with grains and veggies, or use it as a base for creative recipes. Experiment with different seasonings and toppings to create your own unique flavors. Happy cooking!

Remember to adjust the cooking time based on your specific Instapot model and follow all safety instructions. These recipes offer a variety of flavors and nutrients, making them perfect choices for easy and healthy meals using your Instapot.
